Robert Zand Murphy

Robert Zand Murphy, a loving, proud, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and farmer, passed away at his residence on March 26, 2024. He was born on March 8, 1951. Zand led a remarkable life full of love, hard work, and service to his country, church, and community.

He graduated from Appling County High School in 1968 before embarking on a fulfilling career path. Beyond his professional endeavors, Zand found joy in farming and tending to the land with care and dedication.

In his earlier years, Zand served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1971, demonstrating his patriotism and bravery for his country. His service was a testament to his character and willingness to serve others.

Zand was a faithful member and Deacon of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Georgia Cattleman’s Association.
 
Zand dedicated forty-two years of his life to Rayonier in Jesup, GA where he worked as a millwright and mechanic. His commitment and work ethic left a lasting impact on all those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

 
Zand is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Mary Nell Edwards Murphy. 
 
Zand leaves behind a loving family including his wife, Tami Herrington Murphy; two children, Jared Murphy and Brent Murphy (Jennifer); six grandchildren: Cody Spikes, Felicity Lee, Mark Lee, Paisyn Murphy, Madelynn Murphy, and Jace Williams; one sister, Gay (Mickey) Stone; a brother-in-law Jeff Herrington (Suzie); a sister-in-law Julie Scarborough (Danny); five nieces: Neisha Richard, Jena Lovett, Jami Scott, Morgan Graham, and Autumn Richard; as well as two nephews: Brandon Stone and Kyler Herrington.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. from Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James Minick, Reverend Wayne Williamson, Reverend Denny Waters, and Reverend Jerry Lightsey officiating.
 
Interment will follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
 
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 6:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M.at Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.
 
Active Pallbearers will be Brandon Stone, Mark Lee, Cody Spikes, Kyler Herrington, Dennis Lamb, Randy Roberson, Monty Edwards, D.J. Kimberly, and Jace Williams.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons and Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and his Rayonier Family.
