Wilma Mumford

Miles~Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Wilma Carter Mumford, age 90, who passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at her residence under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. She was a homemaker. She was a loyal wife, loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family and God and made everyone welcome at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odis and Myrtice Carter Sr.; husband, Newbon B. Mumford; daughter, Janis M. Spell and great granddaughter, Jaden Brooke Mumford, two brothers, Odis Carter, JR. and David Carter and a sister, Eula Mae Carter Reynolds.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald and Velma Mumford of Baxley and Larry and Donna Mumford of Baxley; a daughter, Dianne and Gary Lewis of Jesup; seven grandchildren, David and Mary Mumford of Rockmart, GA, Selena and Jesse Weaver of Baxley, Dedi and Skeese Carter of Baxley, Kevin and Julie Mumford of Baxley, Debbie and Jerome Dyal of Baxley, Edwin and Windy Spell of Baxley and Scott Spell of Baxley; ten great-grandchildren; a very faithful loving friend and caregiver, Phyllis Williams; a brother, Wendell and Margaret Carter of Baxley; a sister, Jeanette Jacobs of Baxley; a sister in-law, Jenarl Carter; three special pets, Buddy, Baxter and Lady; several nieces, nephews and other family may also survive.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 12:30-2:00pm at the church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2pm at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ben Defore and Reverend Michael Beecher officiating.

Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be John Steven Mumford, Brent Tomberlin, Dalton Carter, Jody Jacobs, Joey Jacobs, Jason Carter, Darby Carter and Jessie Weaver.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church c/o Lake Carter at 584 Cattle Gap Lane, Baxley, GA 31513.
