Baxley- Willie Lee Kersey Sr., 59, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness. Mr. Kersey is a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and worked at Rayonier for 30 years. He loved bull riding and spending time with puppies and grandchildren. He had a big giving heart, loved making people laugh and was the best father anyone could have. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carless and Louise Kersey; brother, Roy J. Kersey and sister-in-law, Kem Kersey.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sue Kersey of Baxley, a son, Willie Lee "Pedro" Kersey Jr. and wife Jennifer of Baxley; a daughter, Gretchen "Necie" Kersey of Baxley; four granddaughters, Brittany Kersey, Leah Kersey, Olivia "Libby" Kersey and Chelsea Holton; a grandson, Tukie Kersey; two brothers, Carl Kersey and wife Wanda and Buddy Kersey; a sister, Shirley Smith and husband Charles and Beverly Kersey; a sister-in-law, Kathye Hall; three brother-in-laws, Tommy Holton and wife Teresa, Stevie Holton and William Holton and wife Mary Ann, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2 pm at the David E. Miles Chapel with the Reverend Andrew Kersey and Glenda Kersey officiating.

Interment will follow at the Omega Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ted Johnson, Albert Coleman, Johnny Sanders, Tony Brown, Willie Drake, Kenneth Reynolds, Jack Smith and Hansel Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rayonier Employees, Kim Weaver and all friends in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
