Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services for Sue Wood Simmons, age 73, who passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at her residence under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.  She was born on December 16, 1943 in Itawamba County, Mississippi to the late Tramel and Mae Wood.  She was a retired educator with the Appling County School System and a member of the First Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Maurice Simmons; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Kenny Stone; and son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Wendy Simmons.  She was Mema to her grandchildren, Josh Stone, Jodi and Preston Baxley, Jessica and Corey Yawn, Cole Simmons and Connor Simmons and her great-grandchildren, Koby and Karson Stone, Kate Anna, Jaxon and Maverick Baxley and Case Yawn all of Baxley.  She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Wood of Hazlehurst; sister, Janice (Bobby) Brown of Lumber City and a special aunt, Carolyn Underwood of Iuka, Mississippi along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

 

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11 am at Zoar Cemetery with the Reverend Joe Ferguson and Reverend Rick Brown officiating.

 

Active Pallbearers will be Jeremy Wood, Jonathan Wood, Jimmy Googe, Chad Underwood, Woody Folsom, Jimmy Flood, Billy Merritt, Gene Thompkins and Jerome Murray.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

 

The family will be gathering at the home of Jeffery and Wendy Simmons at 1421 Oak Ridge Road.
