Ronnie Lee Sr

Ronnie Hollis Lee, Sr passed away July 17, 2024 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Alma, GA.Born: April 28, 1939, in Alma, GA to the late Quincy and Adel Kirkland Lee. Early in his life Mr. Lee was employed with Annie & Johnson Construction Company out of Atlanta and for sixteen years in the post-depression era helped to build many of the Downtown Atlanta High Rises that are landmarks to this day. Returning home after sixteen years he purchased The Baxley Abattoir and Meat Market where he ran it with his only son Ron and wife Laveen for twenty years before retiring. He and his family provided the meat staples for many of South Georgia's residents as a part of the flourishing livestock productions that are continuing to grow today. To this day people still ask his only son Ron if he will "make some of his daddy's sausage"!After retiring he and his wife traveled to the majority of the Continental United States, Canada and much of the Caribbean with their friends and family. Ronnie loved the "Big Trees" in The Redwood National Park, sightseeing in his motorhome and in his late seventies even enjoyed swimming with the dolphins in the Bahamas, bringing back tales a plenty from how the trees looked, the air was different and even how the dolphins felt. Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Laveen Rowell Lee, parents Quincy and Adel Kirkland Lee, brothers, Harold "Buddy" Lee, Daniel Lee, David "Piker" Lee, Frank Lee and Eugene Lee all of Alma as well as sisters, Eunity Sweat, Madeline Sweat and Mary Evelyn Hyers all of Alma. Survivors include his only son Ron H. Lee, Jr and wife Knicole Lee, his prize grandsons Ronnie Hunter Lee and wife Kaitlin Lee and Nikolas Fisher Lee as well as his special great grandson Remington Hollis Lee. Sister Bobbie Jean Johnson and brothers Russell Lee (Joyce), Quitman (Betty), Steve (Carolyn) and his special camping friends Jackie and Freddie Cunningham. A host of friends, nieces and nephews survive to remember the fun times they had with "Uncle Ronnie" (Big Lard).Per Mr. Lee's request he will be cremated and have a private family ceremony with immediate family only at a later time. The family requests your thoughts and prayers during this time but will not be accepting guests. The family would like to give a special thanks to The Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Alma, GA. The staff made Mr. Lee's last years comfortable and he enjoyed everyday. Special thanks to all the nursing and support staff and Ms. Amber who always made sure his needs were met.
