Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral service for Mr. Robert Spell, age 75, who passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Pleasantview Nursing Center in Metter. Mr. Robert was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County, and a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was a former self-employed welder and retired from Rayonier with twenty-two years of service.


Mr. Robert began working with Fred Strickland at Strickland Funeral home at age fifteen and later worked with David E. Miles Funeral Home and Nobles Funeral Home following his retirement from Rayonier.

Mr. Spell is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Evelyn Nash Spell; and three siblings, James Spell, Floyce Hutto, and Ruby Crabbs.

Surviving is his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Spell; three children, Robbie Spell (Kachina), Dwain Spell (Brenda), and Rhonda Folsom (Brad); seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Spell (Von) also survive.

The funeral service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Williamson and Reverend Benji McReady officiating.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Bradley Folsom, Tyler Spell, Keven Thomas, Tommy Spell, Kelly Murphy, and Ronald Wilcox.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy and Connie Miles, B.W. and Sandy Warren, Scott and Beverly Cooper, Billy Coleman, Albert Coleman, Harry Griffin, Glen Carter, Ted Johnson, Oliver Eason, Kenneth Reynolds, Randy and Lynn Crummey, Clyde Jones, Ronnie O’Quinn, Kenny Wright, Mark Melton, Victor Powers, Johnny Sanders, Randy Branch, Carroll and Betty Turner, J.W. Murray, Martin Crapps, Keith Wilcox and Richard Rainwater.
