Miles~Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Nellie Thornton McGuirt, 60, who passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at her residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton McGuirt; a daughter, Debbie Barber and her father, Olin Thornton.

Survivors include her son, Allen McGuirt and fiancAC. Courtney Cochran of Baxley; a daughter, Brandy McGuirt of Baxley; two grandchildren, Joseph Ryan Manning of Waycross and Jacob Thomas Little of Douglas; mother, Larnell Driggers of Baxley; two brothers, Rodney Driggers of Baxley and Joe Thornton of Florida.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at 3pm at Miles Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Joey Andrews and Reverend Doug Weisel officiating.

Interment will follow in the Surrency City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Kamalakis, Olin Thornton, Matthew Self, Shawn Burkett, Jr. James Burkett and Darren Crosby.

Honorary pallbearers will be Southern Care Hospice staff.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Michelle and Jake Allday, Reverend Doug Weisel and Judy Beacham.

The family will be gathering at the residence of Larnell Driggers at 294 McClure Lane, Baxley.
