Miles - Nobles Funeral Home announces the funeral services of Mr. Lindon J. Lightsey, age 68, who passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Appling County; a retired truck driver, a member and Treasurer of the Exchange Club of Appling County, a former member of the Appling County Volunteer Fire Dept. and a member of Baxley Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Lindon was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and was a friend to everyone he met.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Reppard Lightsey and Jenetha Lightsey Vaughn.


Surviving is his wife, Helen Cowart Lightsey of Baxley; three sons, Craig and Wendy Lightsey of Ballground, Kevin and Tania Lightsey of Cleveland, Andy and Janey Dowdney of Baxley; one daughter, Misty and Jim Avera of Baxley; one brother, Windell and Iona Lightsey of Marietta; two sisters, Peggy and James Mills of Baxley and Jenna and Tim Young of Fitzgerald; twenty-one grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 3 p.m. from the Baxley Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverends Caleb Folsum, Lamar Lee and Rick Brown officiating.


Interment will follow in the Memorial Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.


Mr. Lightsey will lie in state one hour prior to services on Wednesday.


Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Baxley Free Will Baptist Church.


Active Pallbearers will be Tim Varnadore, Mark Varnadore, Alan Everett, Josh Griffis, John Garner, Dustin Pendarvis, Jon Thomas Pendarvis and Brock Pendarvis.


Honorary Pallbearers will be the Family of Baxley Free Will Baptist Church, members of the Exchange Club of Appling County and all friends in attendance.
