Lester Grimes

Baxley-Lester Grimes, 65, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice. He was a native of Polk City, FL and had lived in Appling County for the past 27 years. Mr. Grimes was a retired farmer and cattlemen; known for growing strawberries and loved working cattle. His mother, Pauline P. Smith and father, Lawrence Manuel Grimes preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 40 years, Louanna Grimes; three daughters, Tammy Gwynn and husband Patrick of Odum, Audra Williams of Vidalia and Lanetta Reese and husband Ray of Baxley; seven grandchildren; Crystal Lycans, April Lycans, Destiny Gwynn, Brandon Williams, Shane Williams, Devan Reece and Marissa Reece; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Miller and Lawrence Grimes; several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 10-12am at the funeral home.

Graveside funeral service with Reverend Jason Grimes will follow visitation. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:15 pm on Thursday.

Interment will be at Mr. Grimes residence at 490 Joe Smith Road, Baxley, GA 31513.
