Lavonda Ann Herndon Carter

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral service for Mrs. Lavonda Ann Herndon Carter, age 68, who passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at her residence under the care of GHC Hospice. Mrs. Carter was a lifelong resident of Appling County, a retired insurance agent and a member of Christian Springs Church of God.

Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar R. Herndon Sr., and Delois Courson Herndon; a brother, Bo Herndon, and a great grandson, Andrew Nobilio.

Surviving is her husband of fifty-three years, J.L. Carter; two children, Joe Carter (Dede) and Tahjia Reynolds (Jason); six grandchildren, Jarrod Yawn, Mavrick Carter, Colby Carter, Callie Ratliff, Courtney Carter, and Logan Reynolds; seventeen great grandchildren; and four sisters, Lawanda Herndon (Harvey), Laronda Davis, Labronda Miller, and Lasonda Wykle (James) also survive.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. from the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Earl Wiggins and Reverend Dean Davis officiating with a eulogy given by Logan Reynolds.

Interment will follow in the Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.

Active Pallbearers are Joe Carter, Jason Reynolds, Jarrod Yawn, Mavrick Carter, Colby Carter, and Logan Reynolds.

Honorary Pallbearers are Amanda Deen, Melissa Burgess, Caitlin Boe, Mary Baxley, David and Barbara Reynolds, and the staff of GHC Hospice.
