June Johnson

June Williamson Johnson was born on February 18, 1947, as a surprise baby after her twin sister, Judy, was born just minutes before. Although Judy was the oldest, everyone knew, June was the boss. She was the protector of her older sister and eventually her younger sister, Becky, too. They had a rough childhood, but the three sisters’ bond could not be broken.

The best day of her life was February 27, 1973, when her miracle baby, Andrea, was born. That day she stepped into what she was made to do. She was brought here to the best mother anyone could ever ask for. She raised Andrea so strong and independent, but she never realized she got those traits from her. She was a superwoman.

Her life changed again when she became “Nana.” This, she would tell you, was her favorite title. I remember her telling me “I love being a mom but there is nothing better than being your nana.”

There were so many good things about June that words could never be sufficient. She was a firecracker. An enigma. A once in a lifetime kind of person.

We will miss her terribly. Her presence on Earth is irreplaceable. We keep smiling knowing that wherever she is, it’s a much better place than here.

We will not be having a traditional funeral or visitation, June wanted to be cremated. We will have a private family memorial service.

In place of condolences, please hug your loved ones tight.
