John "J.D." Barber

Miles~Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of John "J.D" Barber, 78, who passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County; a retired employee of the City of Baxley and member of Ferry Road Baptist Church.

Mr. Barber was preceded in death by his wife Velma Barber.

He is survived by his sister, Mattie Bennett of Baxley; two nephews, John and Brenda Hardwick of Baxley and Robert and Bobette Pollette of Baxley; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the Miles~Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Alan Rea and Reverend Rick Brown officiating.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday prior to funeral services.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Hardwick, Kyle Hardwick, Buddy Pollette, John Barber, Stacy Mobley and Noah Mobley.

Honorary pallbearers will be City of Baxley Employees and Serenity Hospice staff.

Interment will be follow at Friendship Congregational Church Cemetery.
