Jimmy Gibbs

Jimmy Warren Gibbs of Hazlehurst passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness. Mr. Gibbs was born on May 15, 1955, to the late Marvin Sidney Gibbs and the late Willie Azalee Westberry Gibbs. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Gibbs retired from the pulpwood industry, loved fishing, being outdoors, and woodworking. He was of the Baptist Faith.

 

Mr. Gibbs is preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Ann Gibbs, Helen Gibbs, and Delane Powell and twelve brothers, Larry Gibbs, Dean Gibbs, Tommy Sanders, Albert Sanders, Harry Sanders, Jerry Sanders, J.T. Gibbs, Donald Gibbs, Edward Gibbs, George W. Gibbs, Lonnie Gibbs, and Marvin Lewis Gibbs.

 

Survivors include his longtime companion Mary Jo Rainey; three sons, Nicholas Gibbs (Catherine), Christopher Gibbs, and Marvin Gibbs; nine grandchildren, Faith Gibbs, Ethan Gibbs, Weston Medders, Wesley Gibbs, Bentley Gibbs, Katelyn Gibbs, Evenlyn Sanchez, Edgar Sanches, Erika Dominguez; four great grandchildren, Anahi Dominguez, Ariella Dominguez, Noah Cooper, and Anthony Dominguez; and six siblings, Calvin Gibbs, Richard Sanders (Lynn), Emmett Gibbs (Patia), Ernest Gibbs, Freda Devereaux (Joe), and Joan Higgins (Harry).

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
