Miles - Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services of Jane Sellers Strickland, age 87, who passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Appling Healthcare Systems. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and a retired teacher of 38 years with Appling County School Systems. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Queen Esther Sunday School Class, the Joy Group, the Appling County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Appling County retired educators.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isham C. Strickland and parents, Colquit and Carrie Hunter Sellers.
Survivors include her daughter, Jan S. Kersey of Baxley; two grandchildren, Brooke Kersey Anderson and husband Michael of Baxley and Kasey N. Kersey of Baxley; two brothers, Billy W. Sellers of Baxley and Hal T. Sellers and wife Betty Ann of Baxley; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Robert Wigley, Reverend Mike Redwine and Reverend Marty Anderson officiating.
Mrs. Strickland will lie in state one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Sellers, Jason Sellers, Mike Carter, Jason Thomas Sellers, Dayden Brannon, Josh Barber, Justin Barber and Dalton Brannon.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Queen Esther Sunday school class, First Baptist Church Joy Group, Appling County Retired Educators, the Appling County Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Betty Copeland, Audrey Craven and the Canasta Girls.
