James "Jamie" Richard Herrington Jr.

With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of James “Jamie” Richard Herrington, Jr. He peacefully entered eternal rest on May 11, 2026, at 10:48 am at the age of 73 years. Jamie was born on October 5, 1952, to Wyoline Dubberly Herrington Lewis and James Richard “J.R.” Herrington. Wyoline later married Edsel Lewis. As a loving stepfather to Jamie, the two maintained a close and loving relationship. Known for a kind heart, unwavering faith, generosity, and a deep love for family and friends, he touched the lives of many. His compassion, wisdom, and quiet strength attracted many loyal and devoted friends. He dedicated many years to his vocation as a boilermaker, welder, and millwright. He was a car enthusiast and owned and restored many classic cars over the years. As he grew older and was unable to work as a mechanic and do carpentry, he continued to indulge his interest by watching car restoration and woodworking shows. He served as a Specialist, E4 in the Army National Guard and was Honorably Discharged. Jamie valued family and friends above all. As a devoted father and grandfather, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, creating special memories. He spent much of his time visiting and fishing with his friends. He was known to be a big jokester and loved to sing. Preceding him in death are his parents, James Richard Herrington, Sr., and Wyoline Herrington. Jamie is survived by his wife, Peregrina “Pearly” LaMayo Herrington; children, Krista (Bryan) Weaver of Baxley, Blake Thomas of Colbert; three grandchildren, Shelbi, Bryce, and Brylee Weaver. Siblings Charlotte (Jerry) Hanchey of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Sheila (Tracy) Rogers of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Stepsiblings, Ellen (Phil) Emenheiser, Ethan (Cheryl) Lewis, and Ken Lewis. As well as his dearest friends, Hugh Mayers, Thomas Dubberly (cousin), Bobby Fenn, and Allen and Wanda Hayes. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 5-7 pm, in the Strickland Room of Nobles Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11 am from the chapel of Nobles Funeral Home, with Reverend Ryan Lamb officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Military Honors will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Ken Lewis, Bob Fenn, Jerry Hanchui, Thomas Dubberly, Hugh Mayers, and Allen Hayes.
