James D. Beckworth

Baxley-James D. Beckworth, 78, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his residence after a brief illness under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He was a retired farmer; an Ironworker; a member of the Local Union #597 in Jacksonville and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Brodston Beckworh; his parents, Doc and Agnus Beckworth; one sister and three brothers.

Survivors are her three children, Wendell Beckworth and wife Carol of Nashville, TN, Margie Clotfelter and husband Bob of Baxley and Becky Wright and husband Brad of Baxley; nine grandchildren, Sadie, Shelley, Tony, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jared, Jessica, Angelisa and Dustin; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Beckworth of Baxley and Hoyt Beckworth and wife Ethel of Baxley; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11am at Miles~Nobles Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Rogers, Reverend Brad Park, Reverend Thad Harvey and Reverend Charles Coss officiating.

Interment will follow in the Beckworth-Swinson Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Rusty Beckworth, Ricky Beckworth, Sam Beckworth, Joe Oxendine, Deran Beckworth and Duane Mabry.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Huddle House staff and Local Union #597 Ironworkers.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
