Hilda Gardner Brannen

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announce the death of Mrs. Hilda Gardner Brannen, age 95, who passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. Mrs. Brannen was a member of First Baptist Church in Baxley, GA.

Mrs. Brannen is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Brannen; her parents, Annie and Tom Gardner; three siblings, Tommie Ruth Purdom, Roy Gardner and Jack Gardner.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Brannen Eason and husband, Billy of Baxley; two granddaughters, Myra Swain Cloud and husband, Tommie of Atlanta, and Emily Swain Pool and husband, Brandon of Atlanta and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Prestley and Harrison Wetzler also survives.

Mrs. Brannen was a pioneer for her generation, holding positions as a Probate Court Judge, first female postal carrier and the first female Postmaster in Appling County. She loved her family unconditionally and was a fierce advocate for those that she cared for.

A private graveside service will be held at Omega Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and reception in honor of Mrs. Hilda Brannen, at First Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Baxley’s Youth Group, 15 N. Main St., Baxley, GA 31513.
