Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the death of Ms. Hazel Thornton, age 77, who passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at her residence. Ms. Thornton was a lifetime resident of K’Ville, a homemaker, a bus driver with the Wayne County Board of Education retiring after eighteen years of service and a member of Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Julian Dewayne Thornton; parents, Elmer and Eloise Sikes Stanfield; two sisters, Jeanette Willard and Gyitha Devereaux; five brothers, Theodore Stanfield, Lavon Stanfield, L.C. Stanfield, Jerome Stanfield and Wayne Stanfield.
Survivors include a son, Wiley and Emily Thornton of Baxley; daughter, Patti Thornton of K’Ville; five grandchildren, Cody Thornton, Amy Craven Harrelson, Seth Eunice, Kristin Eunice and Kole Thornton; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Warren of Jesup and Brenda Knox of Atlanta and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
