Miles – Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the death of Gilbert Ellis, age 78, who passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice.  He was born in Palatka, FL; raised in Jeff Davis County living in Blackshear for 23 years and has lived in Baxley since 1995.  He was a retired exterminator and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gains and Zella Walsh Ellis; three sisters, Beatrice Burna, Darlene Johnson and Nellie Burney; three brothers, Billy Stapleton, Harold Stapleton and Charlie Stapleton.

 

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie M. Ellis of Baxley; one daughter, Darlene Kimberly and husband Mitchell of Surrency; two sons, Dale Ellis and wife Cheryl of Blackshear and William Ellis and wife Summer of Winder, GA; fifteen grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mae McGonagle of Baxley and Alene Baker of Slippery Rock, PA; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Gary Conger and Reverend Doug Weisel officiating.

 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

 

Interment will follow in Burkett Church Cemetery.

 

Active pallbearers will be Junior Hinnant, Gilbert Ellis, Jr., Robert Ellis, Thomas Ellis, John Erickson, Chase Fulford, Danny Ellis and Christopher Ellis.
