Miles – Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Faye Carter Mayers who passed away Saturday, May 03, 2014 at her residence under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. Mrs. Mayers was in the wholesale and retail flower business for over forty-five years; she was the owner and operator of Mayer’s Nursery and Faye’s Greenhouse. She was known by everyone as “The Flower Lady”.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many people.

Mrs. Mayers was preceded in death by her parents, David Monroe “Dude” and Georgie Johnson Carter; husband, Jimmy E. Mayers; brothers, Ben C. Carter, James L. Carter, Dupree Carter and William Lafayette Carter; sister, Jackie C. Mock; special aunt, Juanita Christmas and grandmother, Mozell Carter.

Survivors are her son, Edsel B. and wife Kathy Mayers; daughters, Sharan Mayers and Donna Mayers Branch; grandsons, Greg and wife Roxanne Eason, Bradley Branch and David Wilson; granddaughters, Kimberly Deal and Kristy Wilson; great-grandsons, Caleb Eason, Kaden Eason, Logan Branch and Dana Covington; great-granddaughters, Brailey Grace Branch and Whitney Poole and Kaylei Wilson; sister-in-law, Iris Carter; special niece, Marzia Branch and special nephew, Jimmy G. Carter.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Zoar Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Brown and Reverend Brad Park officiating.

Musical selections will be by Mrs. Glenda Reeves.

Interment will follow in the Zoar Cemetery.

Mrs. Mayers will lie-in-state one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Active Pallbearers will be Jimmy G. Carter, Johnny Godfrey, Stacy Teston, Steve Wynn, Stephen Smith and David Wilson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Deal, Frances Martin Daniels, Al and Margaret Graham, Dwain and Carolyn Hutto, Tansey Nail, Mary Jo Davis, Dana Edenfield, Juanita Harris, Charles Harris, Nettie O’Quinn, George O’Quinn, Charles O’Quinn, Elaine Dollar, Huey Lane, Karen Lane, Denise Lane, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Orvin, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Allen, June Bratcher, Melinda Tanner, Dawn Sanford, Andy Branch, Clint Bass, James Eason, Vicky Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Orvin and Members of Sand Hill Creek Church.
