Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Emily Jeanette Ahl Bruce, age 82, who passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. She was a native of Bacon County living most of her life in Ludowici. Mrs. Bruce graduated from the Warren A. Candler School of Nursing in 1957. Her nursing career began in hospitals in both Ware and Wayne Counties. In the late 1960’s she entered public heath where she officially served her community for over 40 years. Upon her retirement she embarked on many adventures traveling the world. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she continued to serve others.
Her greatest joys were her granddaughter, Meagan Noel and anticipating the arrival of Ava Sophia. She loved her daughter, Dawn, her family and friends, with Melba and the “Sister Cousins” holding an extra special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew L. Bruce, Sr.; mother, Mary Loys Gordon Hodges and sister, Ilene Ahl.
Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Manning Rowe and Steve Cooper of Ludowici; one granddaughter, Meagan Rowe Upole and husband Scott and one great granddaughter, Ava Sophia Upole all of Statesboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 6pm at Calvary Baptist Church of Ludowici with the Reverend Brian Smith and Reverend David Deen officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services at the church.
Active Pallbearers will be Scott Upole, Gene Doyle, Arte Gordon, Bruce Wolfson, David Deen and Vanzel Perry.
