Ellen Hughes

Miles~Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services for Ellen Rena Hughes, age 79, who passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Lakeview Retirement Home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County.  She was a retired seamstress, homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Ladder Day Saints in Hazlehurst.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Addison Miles Vaughn and Zelma Gibbs Vaughn; two children, Tim Veals and Connie Veals; a sister, Jewell Ray and five brothers, Buck Vaughn, Benny Vaughn, Jack Vaughn, Cadwell Vaughn and Prince Vaughn.

Survivors include two children, Nancy Rowell and Darlene Porterfield and spouse Sam Smith; nine grandchildren, James Veals and wife Latain, Melissa Veals, Ellen Veals, Angie Bohannon, Kevin Rowell and wife Candice, Tiffany Rowell Rush and husband Steven, Rusty Porterfield and wife Tabitha, Jake Porterfield and wife Tess Hamm and Susan Turner and husband Timmy Terry; one brother, Artis Vaughn and wife Jessie Mae; fifteen great grandchildren; a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11 am at Miles~Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Randy Rowell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Friendship Congregational Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday.

Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Rowell, Rusty Porterfield, Jake Porterfield, Steven Rush, David Gruber and Miles Vaughn.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff and residence of Lakeview Retirement Home, Jamie McLoon and Avery McLoon.
