Edward Aldrich

Edward Delmas Aldrich, age 75, of Appling County, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after a long illness.

 

Edward, fondly known as Eddie, was born to Estes “Bob” Aldrich and Melba Aspinwall Aldrich on May 16, 1948, in Jesup, Ga. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served a tour of duty in Vietnam in the 554th Civil Engineering Squadron known as RED HORSE as a construction specialist.

 

After service, he returned home and worked in home construction for a number of years before starting his career at CSX Transportation. Eddie worked as a locomotive electrician for 34 years before retiring in 2008.

 

After his return home from military service, Eddie also met his future wife, Debra Jackson Aldrich. They have been together for 52 years and married for more than 49 years.

 

He was a member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church in Jesup, GA. He enjoyed fishing, visiting with family, friends, and neighbors, growing a garden (especially watermelons), and using his tractor.

 

Eddie was predeceased by his parents, Estes “Bob” Aldrich and Melba Aspinwall Aldrich and a brother, Ronnie Aldrich.

 

 He is survived by his wife, Debra Aldrich of Appling County and two children, Tina (Mark) Murguia of Richmond Hill, GA and Dustin (Stacey) Aldrich of Odum, GA, and a granddaughter, Gracyn Murguia of Statesboro, GA; two sisters, Wilda Strickland of Hiram, GA and Jilda (David) Brown of Odum, GA; a brother, Donnie (Karen) Aldrich of Brunswick, GA; father-in-law, Wayne Jackson of Odum, GA; a brother-in-law, Stanley, Griffin of Surrency, GA; sister-in-law Sharon Ford of Surrency, GA and sister-in-law Connie Aldrich of Loganville, Ga; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. from the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Worley officiating.

 

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

 

Interment will follow in Millikin Cemetery with Military Honors.

 

Active Pallbearers are Tyler Brown, Tommy Griffin, Kyle Griffin, Keith Griffin, Stan Griffin, and Hunter Mosley.

 

Honorary Pallbearers are the staff of Dr. Orlando Fernando’s office, DaVita Jesup Diaylsis, and Hospice of South Georgia.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church building fund. Cornerstone UPC P.O. Box 441 Jesup, Ga 31598
