Miles~Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Edith Johns Herndon Smith Vitello, age 98, who passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015, in Snellville, GA where she was cared for by a loving grandson and Crossroads Hospice. She was a resident of Appling County where she was a member of Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. She was born February 25, 1917 to the late Ruth (Mann) Johns Herndon and the late Lester Johns of Appling County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and John Herndon and Lester Johns; daughter, Mary Ruth Smith Heil Madulka; son, Johnny Smith; husbands Rondel Smith and Frank Vitello; brothers, John Clinton Herndon and Curtis Herndon.

Survivors include one grandson, Eric Heil; two sisters, Thelma H. Riggs and Sue Daniel; one brother, Sampson Herndon (Rhonda); one sister-in-law, Etta Mae Herndon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 at 1pm at Memorial Freewill Baptist Church with the Reverend Tommy Daniels officiating.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Heil, Bernnie Kent, Albert Kent and Sampson Herndon.
