Dorsey D. Stover

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral service for Mr. Dorsey D. Stover, age 73, who passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Hazlehurst Court & Rehab. Mr. Stover was a native of Rainell, West Virginia, and a resident of Savannah for many years. He was a 1968 graduate of Jenkins County High School, and a 1973 graduate of Armstrong State College. Mr. Stover was a faithful member of Avondale Baptist Church in Savannah and an Ordained Minister. He retired after 30 years of service as a police lieutenant with the Chatham County Police Department. During his service Mr. Stover served in the accreditation unit as the Director of Planning and Evaluation.

Mr. Stover is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer, and Dorothy Stover; a sister, Bonnie S. Riley; and seven brother in laws, Raymond Vaughn, Thurmon Vaughn, David Vaughn, Howard McLeod, Carl Middleton, Edward Boatright, and Carroll Johnson, sister-in-law, Terrie Vaughn.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Joyce Vaughn Stover; two brothers, Lee Stover of Florida, and Nick Stover of North Carolina; and two brother in laws, Sherwood Vaughn (Jane) and Roger Vaughn, six sisters in laws, Betty Vaughn Boatright, Patsy Vaughn, Ettie Mae Vaughn, Reba Mcleod, Peggy Middleton, and Bobbie Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 2:30 P.M. at Appling Memorial Gardens with Reverend Tommy Daniels officiating.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. from the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the infusion nurses at Appling Health Care and Dr. Orlando Fernando for the wonderful care they provided for Mr. Stover.
