Dennie Smart

Miles~Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services for Dennie T. Smart, age 73, who passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at his daughter’s residence in Temple, GA under the care of his children and Embrace Hospice.  He was a native of Appling County; Director of Maintenance for Supreme Oil Company in Brundidge, AL; a United States Navy Veteran; and a former Commander with the American Legion Post #216 in Fulton County.  He was an avid fisherman and loved his family and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Elna Marsh Taylor Smart; a sister, Linda Lee Smart Bates; a grandson, Derrick James Smart and a granddaughter, Odessa Smart.

Survivors include four children, Brian Smart and wife Teon of Carrolton, Julia Thomas and husband Ronnie of Douglasville, Celia Smart of Temple and Albert Smart and wife Angie of Villa Rica; a stepdaughter, Robin Bright and husband Anthony of Douglas; nineteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil Smart and wife Joann of Opp, AL, Luther Smart and wife Gail of St. Simons Island and Don Smart and wife Carol of Savannah; several nieces nephews and other family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 2 pm at Miles~Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Lamar Lee and Reverend Mike Lee officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Active Pallbearers will be Roy Thomas, Jeremy Bates, Darin Smart, Spencer Bright, Chris Whitlow and Cory Carroll.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Appling County Class of 1960.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 4 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge, AL.
