David "Big Bird" Battles

Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral service for Mr. David Michael “Big Bird” Battles, age 75, who passed away on December 29, 2023, at his home. Mr. Battles was a native of Boaz, AL, living for the past forty years in Appling County. He was a retired pipefitter with Local 177 in Brunswick, GA, and an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.

Mr. Battles was preceded in death by his parents, Issac and Bertha Johnson Battles, and a brother, Keith Battles.

Surviving is his wife of forty-two years, Brenda Battles; three children, Anna Maria Battles Thompson (Rick), Michael Jon Baxley (Misti), and Brandy Deloach (Linton); nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and two siblings, Chris Battles and Raydale Battles (Patsy) also survive.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. from the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rick Brown officiating.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Boaz, AL.

Interment will follow.

Honorary Pallbearers are all in attendance.
