Charles "Shorty" Rich

Miles~Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Charles "Shorty" Rich, 76, who passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice. He was a resident of Appling County and a retired truck driver of 22 years. He loved life and his family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Rich Hopkins; parents, George and Artie Rich; and two brothers, George "Bud" Rich and Earnest Rich.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Ruby Rich of Baxley; six children, Kathy Brannan of Baxley, Charles Rich and wife Genia of Swainsboro, James Rich and wife Sherry of Baxley, Georgia Brannan and husband James of Baxley, Donna Ward and husband Rick of Baxley, Jerry Rich and wife Michelle of Vidalia; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Marsh; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2pm at the Miles~Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Roundtree, Reverend Steve McGuire and Reverend Ray Freeman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Omega Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Englett, John Smith, Jimmy Lee, Brandon Clark, Fred Moore and Curtis Rich.
