Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Carl L. O'Quinn, who passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County; a 1945 graduate of Baxley High School; the owner of Sinclair Service Station (present location of AAA Gas) and an insurance agent for Life of Georgia from 1957 until 1983. He loved to fish; take care of his family; cook-out for his family and friends and was the head cook for Parker Big Buck Contest for 23 years. He was a tail gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress during the Korean War; a member of Consolation Baptist Church and a life member of the VFW. He was also a contributor and distributor for Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets for the VFW and River Rat Pack.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Nettie Hunter O'Quinn of Baxley; two sons, George C. O'Quinn and wife Paula of Baxley and Charles H. O'Quinn of Bristol; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" O'Quinn of Melbourne, FL; two grandchildren, Joy O'Quinn and J.C. O'Quinn of Waynesboro; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Miles-Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Daniels and Reverend Ron Ross officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be J.C. O'Quinn, Jimmy Godfrey, Jimmy Wigley, Winston Mincey, Clifton Mincey and Craig Stone.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and family in attendance.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Gideon's International at gideons.org, Ten Miles Baptist Church at 3785 Ten Mile Road, Baxley, GA 31513 or any charity of your choice.
