Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Bobby "Bart" Gardner, 81, who passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia; retired from the USDA where he was the office manager of the Pearson office for 12 years and the Baxley office for 13 years. After his retirement he moved to Atlanta with his wife Nancy where he sold commercial real estate for 21 years returning to Baxley in 2009. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was ordained as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Pearson and he remained an active deacon in various churches until 2009.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Barton and Fannie Lee Crapps Gardner; his sister, Edith Marie Gardner Black and a brother, Murray Crapps Gardner.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Thomas Gardner of Baxley; a daughter, Nan Marie Gardner Lott and husband H.M of Baxley; a son, Thomas Burton Gardner and wife Joy Overstreet Gardner of Tryon, NC; four grandchildren, Angela Marie Lott Griffin and husband Jared, Heather Rae Lott Thomas and husband Ricky, Joshua Thomas Gardner and Jenny Marie Gardner; three great grandchildren, Lana Rae Hutchinson, Grayson Lane Hutchinson and Brody Lott Griffin; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6-8 pm from the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2 pm at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Tommy Daniels and Tom Kilgore officiating.

Mr. Gardner will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services on Friday.

Interment will follow at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jared Griffin, Joshua Gardner, H.M. Lott, Ricky Thomas, Tom Kilgore and Bill Knight.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Collins, Carlie Cranford, Ray Wells, Martin Crapps, the C hall staff of the Pavilion, Pat Meadows, Jeff Baxley, Bobby Davis, Eddie Miles, Bill Branch, Earl McDaniel, Jimmy Howard and Southern Care Hospice staff.
