Abron Nolon Gray

Abron Nolan Gray, 82, of Alma, Georgia, passed away on June 23rd, 2026, at Appling Healthcare in Baxley. Born on November 12th, 1943, in Appling County, he was the beloved son of Daniel H. Gray and Dora Deen Gray. Abron spent his life devoted to his family, his church family, and his work. Abron worked 15 years at the Reidsville State Prison as a Correctional Officer. He was a Contractor, Electrician, and Plumber for 20 years. What he loved most, though, was driving his Semi as a long-haul driver, which he did until his retirement, driving almost 10 million miles and seeing all 48 lower states in his driving Career. He was affectionately known as the Truck Driving Santa Claus because of his authentic White Beard and Handlebar Mustache. He loved to see the happy children seeing Santa driving a Big Truck. There was nothing he couldn’t fix; he was a handyman through and through. Tackling many projects throughout the years. He loved his family and loved to show them off with pictures he kept in his wallet. He was preceded in death by His Parents, Daniel and Dora Gray of Appling County, Georgia; His Siblings, Nelly-Grace (Troy) Britt of Salt Lake City, Utah; Thera (Bud) Miles of Baxley, Georgia; Azzander (Opal) Gray of Crete, Illinois; Preston (Aline) Gray of Jesup, Georgia; Clint-Hoyt (Dorothy) Gray of Baxley, Georgia; Harold Gray of Alma, Georgia; Thad A. (Louvonia) Gray of Alma, Georgia; His Father-in-Law Dolphus E. Brown and Mother-In-Law Dorothy C. Brown of Baxley, Georgia; Brothers-In-Law D. H. Brown and David C. Brown both of Baxley, Georgia. He is survived by his children, Kevin S. Gray of Baxley, Georgia; Kimberli S. Gray (Russell) of Baxley, Georgia; and his ex-wife, Donna B. Gray of Baxley, Georgia. Grandchildren, Kevin E. (Megan) Gray of Baxley, Georgia; Kylie B. (Jared) Fields of Baxley, Georgia; Christinah (Jordan) Mulder of Provo, Utah; Colin (Krista) Haddock of Baxley, Georgia; and Reagin (James) Jones of Baxley, Georgia. His great-grandchildren, Bella Gray, Jaxton, and Ember Fields; Oliver, Lincoln, and Savannah Mulder, and several nieces and nephews also survive. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on June 26th, at 11:00 a.m. at Deen’s Cemetery in Appling County, with Chris Nail officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nobles Funeral Home of Baxley, Georgia. Though deeply missed, Abron’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew Him. “But you, take courage!
